getSystemData() returned -1: Unknown error

All the data seems to download from the inverter OK, but upload only uploads a summary figure, getSystemData always errors.

Any help appreciated.

Hi,
please don't bother about getSystemData error... it's not really an error and should not be visible.
For pvoutput there seems to be an issue.. can you post a verbose logfile (-v5)

The power supply for the Pi can produce 2 Amps. As the voltage is 240, approximately speaking the power supply for the Pi runs at around 500W. If that's on for 24 hours, it'll use nearly the average power production of the panels. Plan is to have it boot for no more than 15-30 minutes a day.

Clearly SBFspot can read the 5 minute data, as the log above shows.

But at the moment, it doesn't seem to be uploading that data.

As for the power consumed by the PI, I believe you are a bit mistaken. The PI consumes at most 1 amp. The power supply voltage supplied to the PI is 5V. So P = 1 x 5, P = 5W. Total power consumed in KWHr / day is 5 x 24 / 1000 = .12KWhr. For the year is .12KWhr x 365 = 43.8KWHr/yr. To be more accurate, the efficiency of the power supply needs to be taken into account. Most power supplies run at least 80% efficient. So, we need to add 20% to the above figure. 43.8KWhr + (.02 x 43.8) = 52.56KWHr/yr. The power figure you need to use is what is consumed by the PI, not what the power supply is capable of producing. I run my PI 24x7x365. At 52.56KWHr/yr, the cost is $6/yr (at $.12/KWHr).

Well that's OK then... had myself convinced. (Oops, multiplying the input voltage by the output current... hey, it's been a long time since I was in school.)

But SBFspot should be able to download the day's five-minutely data as the long shows, and upload it all as a oner? The log displays the five-minutely data, so it can download it. Is there a gap in the upload side (possibly a gap with pvoutput.org, not SBFspot?0

That's what smatool does on my own installation. Just seems that the hack smatool used for Bluetooth does not work on the newer model inverter.

Hi John,
I really don't know much about how SBFspot uploads data to PVOUTPUT. I do not upload to PVOUTPUT via SBFspot. I use its output to feed my own custom written application that feeds PVOUTPUT. But it appears that SBF wants you to run it at 5 minute intervals so my gut tells me, no it will not upload all the data up to the instant in time SBFspot is run. But, this is a question for SBF. At any rate, how was this days data produced?: http://www.pvoutput.org/intraday.jsp?id=33088&sid=30313&dt=20140810&gs=3&da=1&m=0 . It appears something was working for a while.

Yes, I produced CSV files for the old data and used good old Cut & Paste in pvoutput's upload facility to set up the legacy data.

I've tried setting up a cron to run it at five minute intervals, but I think the thing needs a manual reboot, so it'll have to wait.

Thanks for putting me right about the consumption figures.

Hi John,

Simply as something like this to cron:
5 * * * * /home/ron/sq1/smaspot -am0 -ae0 -d5 -v5 -cfg/home/ron/sq1/sq1.cfg > /home/ron/sq1/logs/smaspot.log 2>> /home/ron/sq1/logs/smaspot.err .

Your executable may be named SBFspot, I'm not sure. I have not recompiled in a while.

Use "crontab -e" to add the entry. Crontab -e will restart cron once it exits the edit window. Cron will pick up the new job and start executing it at the next interval.

Thanks Ron, I'm familiar with cron but I missed out explicitly specifying the -cfg.

Actually, don't I need 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55,0 * * * * for the timing? Your spec will just run at 5 past the hour ,I think.

That will make it run every 5 minutes. Sorry about that.
